Guide service on Devils Lake

To say Devils Lake has undergone some change would be an understatement as large as the lake itself. In the past 25 years, Devils Lake has more than tripled in size. While this wreaked havoc on the citizens of the surrounding communities, it has been a blessing in disguise for the fishing. With the high water came thousands of acres of new habitat. Flooded buildings, farm equipment, rock piles and road beds are now home to the walleye, pike, white bass, and perch that once roamed the featureless basin of the old Devils Lake. The fishery as it sits now is one of the best in the country for all of the species that dwell beneath the surface. These fish can be caught in any manner that you enjoy. Casting crank baits to gravely shorelines and under water structures and bobber fishing in the acres of flooded timber are two of the many techniques that have made Devils Lake famous. The lake is truly a year round paradise as the fishing through the ice is just as good as it is in the open water months. If you have never been to Devils Lake, it is a destination you have to visit at least once in your lifetime.

A TYPICAL DAY ON DEVILS LAKE

The walleye fishing on Devils Lake is fairly consistent, but the time of year dictates what we do to catch them. The spring starts out with fish looking for warmer water and that places us in the shallow bays of Devils Lake. Pitching jigs or casting crankbaits will provide plenty of action with Walleye, Pike, and White Bass all mixed together. Slip bobbers with live bait also play a role when the fish get lock jaw. As spring tourns to summer, late June, July, and August are very dependable. Casting gives way to bottom bouncers and spinners, trolling crank baits, and bobber and jig fishing. The fish may not be as large as spring and fall, but the numbers of good eating size fish is incredible. If action is the name of the game, come in the summer months. Fall means bigger fish and another set of techniques. Jigging heavy baits like Jigging Raps and jigging spoons, trolling lead core line a bit deeper or casting jigs shallow can all happen in one day. The fish are less, but the size is better than any other time of the year.

All rods, reels, and lures are provided.  Fish will be cleaned and packaged.  No charges for bait or gas.
